MY LIFE PROJECT
Introduction to My Life Project
Throughout most of my adult life, I have been working on self created projects of one kind or another, especially from the late 1980s onwards. One morning in late 1997, while out on one of my regular long distance runs, 3 words flashed into my mind: "My Life Project." As well as my "2000 Olympics Project," I was also working on "Marc White! Australia Plan," "Project Pop Star" and other personal and business projects at the time. During the run it suddenly occurred to me that I could consolidate all of my individual projects under the single umbrella of my Life Project, and I immediately decided to put the idea into action. The mission statement for my Life Project has varied during the ensuing years, and the version that I am currently using is as follows:
"To inspire the whole world to be happy, healthy and successful, with my inspirational pop songs, videos, books, emails, websites and other tools."
The elements of my Life Project that are included on this page are, in this order:
Project Pop Star
Project Inspire
Life Long Disciplines (LLDs)
Daily Disciplines (DDs)

Project Pop Star
I started learning to play guitar and sing in September 1979, and picked up the basics very quickly. I began busking after a month and writing songs after two months. I did my first pub gig after six months. Very soon after I started, a down to earth mature woman by the name of Rowena Price, hearing me play and sing for the first time, said to me "You're obviously going to go all the way to the top." This amazing vote of confidence had a profound effect on me, and I have always believed it to be true. From the start, I wrote more inspirational songs than love songs, and quickly became aware that my mission in life is to inspire the whole planet with my songs. Little did I know at the time just how long this job would take.
Fast forward nearly twenty years: One day in August 1997, while doing my daily meditation, the phrase "Project Pop Star" popped into my mind. I immediately began using this name to describe my music project, and I began some very serious regular disciplines, including weekly rehearsals, research, studying the pop music charts, and other useful activities, which have continued to this day. Becoming a pop star is not my major aim in life. I am not primarily seeking fame and fortune, but these things are going to be natural by products of this project. My major aim in life is to inspire the whole world to be happy, healthy and successful, and one of the main ways I am going to do this is with my inspirational pop songs. I believe wholeheartedly in the power of music to inspire, motivate and spiritually and emotionally nourish everyone on this lovely blue planet.
As the years and decades roll on, this project is becoming more and more of an extremely long term venture, and I often deliberately slow down the process, in order to make sure that every step along the way is completed as thoroughly as possible. I have unhesitatingly knocked back offers from people with studios to record my songs free of charge, because either the timing or the people were wrong, and I repeatedly knock back unsuitable gigs, including weddings and parties (twice in the last 2 weeks, as I write), because I now choose to perform only for sober audiences. I also refuse to enter TV talent competitions such as The X Factor and Australia's Got Talent, as people frequently suggest, simply because that is not the way my inner guidance leads me. I always follow my heart and my intuition, and the message that I hear loud and clear is to go very slowly and to do it totally on my own terms.
One of the major decisions I made many years ago is that I will always be self managed. This and many other decisions I make obviously greatly delay my ultimate success, and I am perfectly OK with that. In fact, in some ways, the longer it takes to reach the top, the better. Imagine a super positive, fit and healthy, youthful seventy year old Aussie guy, with the voice of a 22 year old, taking over the world's music charts with his inspirational pop songs. The way I'm going, that could well end up being the reality. I have often said and written that it may take decades to complete Project Pop star, and I will keep working on it until my mission statement, which is clearly spelt out in the following affirmation, is fully realized:
"I have numerous world-wide number one selling albums and singles of my totally positive inspirational and love songs, during my current human lifetime!"
Following is the career path that I have mapped out for myself, and my absolute belief in my songs, my voice and my management skills will ensure that I eventually complete the three remaining steps:
BUSKING > CAFES > THEATRES > ARENAS > STADIUMS

Project Inspire
To keep it very short and simple for now, Project Inspire encompasses all of the non-musical tools that I am using to inspire the world, such as books, emails, campaigns, inspirational products and services, and other methods. You can find details of some of these included on this website in the Inspiration and Services sections.
All of my work is based on the following statement:
"You have the right, and the ability, to be happy, healthy and successful, to choose your own beliefs and values, and to travel your own chosen path in life."
The mission statement for Project Inspire is clearly spelt out in the following affirmation:
"My numerous world-wide best-selling inspirational books, and other products and services, inspire billions of people to be extremely happy, healthy and successful, during my current human lifetime!"

Life Long Disciplines (LLDs)
Before September 1988, I was a very lazy, undisciplined person. As a young adult, I threw away a number of jobs because I couldn't even get out of bed in the morning. I often broke my undertakings and let people down, and habitually performed at well below my best.
Then, from September 22 to December 22 1988, as a 30 year old, I created and completed an amazingly life changing project that I called my 3 Month Personal Growth Intensive (3MPGI). By the end of these 3 months, I had transformed myself into a very disciplined, reliable and dependable person, and forever left the old me in the past. The bottom line was that I deliberately developed the ability to be able to say I will do something and then follow through and do it, no matter what.
It all boiled down to two super powerful words: Daily Discipline. I established the permanent habit of doing Daily Disciplines during 3MPGI, and over the years many of them have developed into what I call Life Long Disciplines (LLDs), meaning that I am committed to continuing to do them for the rest of this lifetime. I adopted my first LLDs in the late 1990s, and they have gradually grown into a very long list. Essentially, I have committed to doing all of the things that I need to do to stay in top condition, mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally, for the rest of my current human lifetime, and to successfully complete every element of my Life Project. Some of these disciplines are done on a daily basis, while others are done weekly, monthly, quarterly or annually. I will share more of these with you here when time permits. For now, I'll tell you about my core Daily Disciplines (DDs), which are some of the great keys to my success:

Daily Disciplines (DDs)
Every day of my life, I do between 2 and 3 hours of core Daily Disciplines (DDs), as follows:
One hour of Mind / Body / Spirit DDs (meditation, affirmations, reading, push-ups and sit-ups)
One hour of physical exercise (walking, running or WAM! [weights and martial arts])
Up to an hour watching an inspirational and / or educational video

My Quiet Discipline
In mid 2003, I commenced my lifelong Quiet Discipline, which basically means that I only speak when there is a need to. It is both a spiritual discipline and a practical discipline, and something that I absolutely need to do in order to successfully complete my Life Project. I basically live the life of a working monk, spending the vast majority of my time alone is silence. I normally do not use a phone, and only possess one because it is sometimes necessary to receive text messages for things like internet banking. If not for that need, I would gladly not have a phone at all. Since 2009, when I bought my first laptop computer, and created my first email account, my preferred method of communication is definitely email. I love it because it is accurate, leaving no room for misunderstandings or unclear communication, and also because it is totally silent.
When there is a need to speak, I say whatever is necessary, in as much detail as required to achieve the desired outcome. This is almost always for some practical reason, and I deliberately choose to make every interaction as friendly and positive as possible, taking every chance to give people PAs. However, I do not spend time in idle conversation or gossip, and I do not socialize at all. Firstly, because I am working on one aspect or another of my Life Project full time, and spending pointless time with others would be an irresponsible use of my time. Secondly, I simply have no desire to be around others when it is not necessary. I am a totally self sufficient person, with very high self esteem, and a very healthy dose of self love. I am my own best and dearest friend, I am always in touch with God Within, and I am the embodiment of the classic song lyrics "Learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all." I live what I sing.
I have more things to fill my time than I could possibly ever fit in during this lifetime, and enough work to complete to last well into my second century. Yes, I plan to live well over 100 years of age, and I have all of the disciplines in place to ensure that I achieve this. Finally, I just really love my time alone. I am happiest when I am here in my home / office / studio getting on with the job of inspiring the world, and doing my very enjoyable Daily Disciplines.
When I do venture outside, which is for some of the time every day, it is either to work, shop or exercise, with no mucking around or time wasting. I do far more singing than talking every week, and that is how it will stay. So if we happen to meet, now you will appreciate why I will probably say so little to you. Most of the words that most people speak are wasted, and just pollute the spiritual environment. There is great power, beauty and happiness to be found in silence.
